Kurdish language and heritage in every grade.
A child at KIS grows up bilingual and rooted. The Kurdistan national curriculum runs through every grade alongside Cambridge and Montessori — not as a supplementary hour late in the week, but as part of the week's ordinary shape.
Language, and what comes with it
Students study Kurdish and Arabic throughout their time here. Language is the carrier, but it is not the whole of it: the stories, the music, the calendar and the history of this region are taught as a living inheritance rather than a heritage module bolted on at the end of term.
- Kurdish — from Nursery through Primary 6, every year.
- Arabic — taught alongside, in line with the national curriculum.
- Culture — carried through art, music, and the school's own calendar.
The aim is a student who can sit a Cambridge examination in English and tell you where they are from in their own language, with neither feeling like a compromise.
